  • North Korea Testing Anthrax Warheads for Ballistic Missiles

A recent ICBM test by North Korea, allegedly of a missile that could strike the USA with a nuke, did not survive re-entry into the atmosphere. Nuclear-armed North Korea said on August 30 that it had fired a missile over Japan the previous day, the first time it has ever acknowledged doing so.

Japanese paper quotes a source who says testing involves ensuring anthrax survives the enormous temperatures generated during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.

North Korea on Wednesday refuted the reports by some United States media that Pyongyang is pushing forward her "biological weapons development programme" amid its development of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) capacities.

The report published by The Asahi Shimbun quoted an "intelligence source" in Seoul which said Pyongyang is conducting "heat and pressure resistance tests to see whether anthrax germs can survive at temperatures of 7,000 degrees or higher" - the temperature at which an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) re-enters the Earth's atmosphere.

North Korea has denied the report from the White House.

In his National Security Strategy released this week, U.S. President Donald Trump stressed that North Korea is pursuing "nuclear, chemical and biological weapons that could threaten our homeland". "And the USA itself is an empire of evils full of plots, fabrications, lies and deceptions".

"They are also the American politicians and the white supremacists making conceived attempts for state terrorism and racial extinction through overt research and development of the biological weapons in the worldwide-scattered U.S. laboratories", it said. A US official told Fox News the Hwasong-15 ICBM did not survive re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.
