  • Track Palin was arrested Saturday in Wasilla and charged with burglary assault and criminal mischief

Track Palin, the son of former governor Sarah Palin, allegedly assaulted his father, Todd Palin, before being arrested on burglary and assault charges at the family's home in Wasilla, Alaska, on Saturday, December 16, Us Weekly can confirm.

Court records show Track Palin, 28, was arraigned Sunday on charges of burglary, fourth-degree assault and criminal mischief for causing between $250 and $999 worth of property damage.

The Palin son had become enraged after his father, Todd Palin, told him he couldn't take the family truck because he had been drinking and taking pain medication, according to police. Todd told police he got his pistol "to protect his family".

Track Palin then allegedly broke through a window and attacked his father, pummeling him in the head.

Police officers also say that Track called them "peasants" during the arrest.

No attorney was listed for Track Palin, who was being held at a pretrial facility in Palmer, Alaska.

"Track stated he then went through the broken window and disarmed Todd and put him on the ground", the court document reads.

He is due back in court this week for a preliminary hearing.

Todd Palin was eventually able to escape the attack, suffering injuries to his face and head, police said.

The family's attorney, John Tiemessen, was not available for comment on Monday, but he issued a statement on Sunday asking that the Palins' privacy be respected.

Earlier this year his ex-girlfriend Jordan Loewe applied for a protective order against Palin, having previously requested full custody of their one-year-old son.

New information has been released after the arrest of Sarah Palin's eldest son Track.

He faced several charges related to domestic violence but had some dismissed in exchange for pleading guilty to possessing a firearm while intoxicated.

In January 2016, he was arrested in a separate domestic violence incident for punching and kicking his girlfriend and threatening to kill himself.
