The Egypt worldwide, who has racked up a double figure goal tally since moving to the Premier League from Roma, was presented with his award by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp at the club's Melwood training ground.

The 25-year-old sent his country to the 2018 World Cup by scoring a late penalty against Congo.

The Reds signed Salah from Roma in the summer for €50million (€42m plus €8m in add-ons) and the Egypt star has so far been a sensation early in his Anfield career.

Keita, who is set to join Mane and Salah at Liverpool this summer and will replace Salah as Liverpool's most expensive player ever, finished fifth.

The other finalists for the award were Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Victor Moses, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita. I had a very good start with the team, and also the manager [Jurgen Klopp]. I had the opportunity to work with a few outstanding players and I am happy that it is now with Mo.

"Since I left Egypt, in my mind, I want to be the best Egyptian ever".

Additionally, Salah was named Champions League player of the week in September.

"I always follow my own way and I want everyone in Egypt to follow my way", Salah went on to tell the BBC. "The good thing with him is he is still young, there is a lot of space for improvement and still a lot of potential for us to work on, but that's how it should be".
