Roy Moore accuser Beverly Young Nelson: 'I pray that he's changed'

  • Beverly Young Nelson the latest accuser of Alabama Republican Roy Moore shows her high school yearbook signed by Moore at a news conference in New York Monday Nov. 13 2017. Nelson says Moore assaulted her when she was 16 and he offered her a ride

Nelson was 16 years old when she claimed Moore groped her near the Gadsden, Alabama restaurant where she worked as a waitress.

Fox News tweeted that, "Roy Moore accuser admits she forged part of yearbook inscription attributed to Alabama senate candidate". "Nelson said she did make notes to the inscription, but the message was all Roy Moore", ABC reports.

She admitted adding the date and location under Moore's signature, despite her attorney Gloria Allred's earlier claim that the Republican candidate wrote it all. "Christmas 1977. Love, Roy Moore, D.A. 12-22-77 Olde Hickory House", the yearbook inscription says.

A week or two after he signed the yearbook, Nelson alleges, Moore offered her a ride home and she accepted.

US president Donald Trump endorsed odd over Moore during the GOP primary earlier this year, but has endorsed Moore in the general election despite the allegations against him.

He insisted last week during a campaign rally that he is completely innocent.

Moore has denied the allegations and said they are meant to undermine his campaign.

Nelson claims that Moore inscribed the words: "To a sweeter, more attractive girl I could not say, "Merry Christmas" 1977".

'He was trying to pull me toward - in between his legs. You know where he had seen it? I pray that he's changed.

About a week or two later, he allegedly offered to drive her home from work and instead drove to the diner vehicle park, where Ms Nelson says he tried to "rape" her in his auto.

'Is the party more important, really, than what happened?' she asked, claiming her story is being 'swept under the rug, literally, ' because Moore is a Republican running in a deep-red state. She started writing things in the yearbook.

Did the accuser admit to forging either "part of an inscription" or Roy Moore's "signature"?

Ms Nelson's legal team say they hired a handwriting expert, who they claim has verified Mr Moore's signature in the book as genuine.

Nelson also failed to disclose that Moore's stamped signature appeared on her 1999 divorce document.

"What they said then was either a lie, or what they said today was a lie", Moore attorney and longtime ally Phillip Jauregui said.

"Release the yearbook so that an independent expert, not your paid expert, an independent expert, a neutral third-party custodian, can take it and look at the ink so that we can find out is the ink a month old, or is it 40 years old?"
