North Korea has been eligible for even harsher sanctions since US President Donald Trump declared it a designated state sponsor of terrorism last month, and White House National Security Advisor H.R McMaster has admitted the newspaper editorial's warning of war was credible.

The fifth-generation, single-seat, twin-engine, all-weather stealth tactical fighter aircraft will take part in the "Vigilant ace" exercise with the South Korean air force from December 4 to 8.

The United States, Britain, France and six other countries on Friday requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on human rights abuses in North Korea, which is already under fire for its missile and nuclear tests.

North Korea has warned that a "reckless" joint military drill by the United States and South Korea could spark a nuclear war.

"I think it's increasing every day", McMaster told Fox News' Bret Baier at the Reagan National Security Forum in California.

The initial analysis shows Tuesday's launch likely involved a two-stage missile with a non-explosive dummy warhead, the official said.

About 28,500 USA troops are stationed in South Korea to deter potential aggression from the North. "We're in a race to be able to solve this problem".

Threats traded by Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have further stoked fears of war.

"The stealth fighters which the enemies boast so much of will not escape the fate of a tiger moth", the North Korean commentary said.

"The situation clearly proves that the USA and the South Korean puppet war maniacs are just aggressors and provocateurs breaking peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula". It was North Korea's most powerful weapons test yet.

It's a risky world and as you look around and see there are a ton of hot spots, this next question is politically sensitive but you said everything was open when we started this thing, does an event like the indictment, foreign policy or national security impact, in other words, do foreign allies get rattled by it, do adversaries get rattled by it, does it somehow constrain the Trump administration foreign policy?.

"I would need to see a bit more differences to fully believe they made this themselves", Dave Schmerler, a research associate at the James Martin Centre for Nonproliferation Studies, said of the launch transport vehicle.
