Trump Makes 'Pocahontas' Slur While Honoring Native Americans

  • Donald Trump will not campaign for Roy Moore in Alabama senate race, says White House

President Donald Trump has used an event honoring Native American veterans to take a shot at Democratic Sen.

During a White House event honoring Native American Navajo code talkers, Trump began his speech by handing a binder containing his scripted remarks to one of the code talkers, saying that the man had already mentioned the historic achievements the he planned to discuss.

Trump has called Warren "Pocahontas" 12 times on Twitter, in either his own tweets or retweets.

Trump has repeatedly employed the slur against Warren.

Immediately after the event, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Trump's deplorable racial slur.

Trump did not refer to Warren directly, but "Pocahontas" is his preferred insult for the MA senator, who has said she has Cherokee ancestors.

The remark was met with silence. Warren went on to say Trump's use of the word counts as a racial slur.

U.S. military officials in World I and World War II recruited Native Americans and used codes based on their languages.

"But you know what, I like you", Trump continued to the Native American veterans standing beside him. "I like you. Because you are special". "I think what most people find offensive is Sen. Warren lied about her heritage to advance her career", Sanders said.

Trump has routinely given his political opponents nicknames, but the slight against Warren is one of his most culturally insensitive.

"I am very proud of my heritage", Warren told NPR at the time, CNN reported.

The White House fired right back at Warren. In any case, Warren has stated that she believes the term is a "slur". She says the comments should be "constantly covered". The Post gave "Two Pinocchios" for Brown's assertion that Warren had claimed she was Native American in applications for jobs at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania.

'These are my family stories.

During her Senate campaign in 2012, Warren was dogged by questions about listing herself as a minority in past professional directories. "I think she's a racist, actually, because what she did was very racist".
