  • Julio Jones shreds Bucs secondary puts NFC on notice

Atlanta: The Falcons continue their homestand by hosting Minnesota.

Julio Jones had been a sleeping beast before Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, but he came alive at the right time to push Atlanta over the top at Mercedes Benz stadium Sunday evening with his 12 catch, 253-yard performance.

Suddenly, things are looking up for the reigning NFC champions.

"The goal is to get better as you're playing", coach Dan Quinn said. He hauled in a 51-yard scoring pass from fellow receiver Mohamed Sanu and went 25 yards for a TD on a throw from Matt Ryan, finishing off the play with a spectacular dive for the pylon.

Starting off with a win against Tampa was huge as the Falcons cannot only secure a playoff spot if they can continue their three-game winning streak, but they have a shot to catch New Orleans and Carolina - both teams are now just one game ahead of them in the division.

Jones now has three games in his brilliant career with at least 250 yards receiving. However, Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers still weren't able to do enough to survive on the road unfortunately.

Jones' explosion was a great reminder to everyone that he remains one of the best in his position today, which some people tend to forget due to his inconsistent play at points this season.

Ryan was 26 of 35 for 317 yards, while Sanu remained flawless in his career when throwing the ball. Tevin Coleman sealed the game with his second rushing touchdown with under two minutes remaining.
