Authorities say the gunman is Darbrett Black, who is now at large.
A Texas state trooper is dead after he was shot during a Thanksgiving traffic stop in East Texas.
One incident in Texas killed one DPS Trooper and another injured a sheriff's deputy in shooting incidents.
The suspected gunman, identified as 32-year-old Dabrett Black of Lindale, is accused of killing Texas DPS Trooper Damon Allen earlier in the evening.
Allen, a married father of three, was killed at the scene, authorities said.
The Navarro County Office of Emergency Management said Black was caught by collaborating with numerous agencies and no additional casualties were reported.
Black has been charged with capital murder of a police officer, and is being held at the Brazos County Jail. In Waller County, the suspect was involved in a shooting near Liendo Parkway and Wyatt Chapel, deputies said.
"This morning and the days to follow please continue to keep Trooper Allen's family, friends and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers".
Hours later, the Waller County Sheriff's Office said the suspect's vehicle was spotted in Hempstead, more than 100 miles (161 kilometers) south of Fairfield.
Lonny Haschel, a public information officer with the Texas Highway Patrol, says,"It takes time for the Texas Rangers, the investigators to come in and analyze every bit of physical evidence at the scene".
