  • J&K: Three LeT Pakistani Terrorists Gunned Down in Handwara Encounter

On September 21, The Indian Express had reported that Owaid alias Osama was the third member of Lakhvi's family to join the LeT's ranks and be part of its operations in Kashmir.

The security forces on Tuesday neutralised three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in North Kashmir's Magam area of Handwara region of Kupwara District of Jammu and Kashmir.

A gunfight erupted following specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Another Jammu and Kashmir police officer said, "The encounter between the joint security forces and militants started around 3 pm".

A search operation in still on in the area.

However, when security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons.

The encounter from the confirmed Pakistani infiltrators comes soon after a claim of the Army that it is taking measures to bring better technology to effectively plug the porous terrain along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.

The operation is still underway and the Indian Army is trying to gun down the terrorists. "We will be able to achieve better success rate in counter infiltration", Sandhu had told reporters on Sunday.
