Blaine Gabbert's Arizona audition will continue.
On Sunday, the 10-year National Football League veteran was back at it, criticizing the Cardinals' play-calling during their loss to the Texans and suggesting the team needs to make personnel changes.
After he was released by the Arizona Cardinals and replaced by the newly-acquired Adrian Peterson, running back Chris Johnson called out "clueless" fans on Twitter.
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians praised Gabbert.
The Cardinals want Drew Stanton (knee) to be "totally healthy" before making a return, but he was well enough to be Gabbert's backup in Week 11, so it's not clear what that means. "I thought he played his (expletive) off", he said after the game. Especially when you make the decision I made and the play that I called.
He had a fantastic first half, throwing two touchdown passes and failing to complete three passes. "As long as we're getting open, we've got to catch it".
Peterson finished the game with 26 yards on 14 carries. This was also the cornerback's first interception of the season and his first pick since December 2016 when the Cardinals achieved a 31-23 win against the Washington Redskins. Between the four players who participated in the celebration, Ellington had the fastest 40-yard dash time at 4.37 seconds. The 27-year-old has played in eight games this season, catching 19 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns in what has been a disappointing year for him overall.
Fitzgerald, who led the Cardinals with nine catches for 91 yards, praised Gabbert, but said the rest of the offense needed to be better.
"We just turned too many guys loose up the middle", Arians said.
The defense did come up with the turnovers but had trouble pressuring struggling Texans quarterback Tom Savage.
