  • Soccer earns seventh seed in NCAA tournament

The UNO soccer team has figured out where they will be playing in the NCAA tournament after taking down Denver to win the Summit League championship. The first-round matchup between UIC and Wisconsin is set to take place on Thursday at the McClimon Memorial Track & Soccer Complex in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Cardinals, positioned to play at home in each round of the NCAA Championship prior to the College Cup as a result of being one of the top four seeds, were among an NCAA record-tying nine Atlantic Coast Conference programs receiving bids to the 48-team field. ESPNU will air the 2017 NCAA Men's College Cup at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia, with semifinal games at 6 and 8:45 p.m. ET on December 8 and the championship match slated for 1 p.m. on December 10 on ESPN2.

With the berth, Virginia earned a first round bye in this season's tournament.

Other ACC members in the top 16, all receiving first-round byes, are No. 3 North Carolina, No. 6 Duke, No. 8 Clemson, No.11 Virginia and No. 12 Notre Dame. The Spartans advanced to the Elite Eight that season before being edged by Providence, 3-2, in East Lansing.

Eight of Louisville's 17 matches in 2017 were played against NCAA Championship qualifiers with the Cardinals registering a 4-2-2 record in those contests.

WMU (16-3-1) also earned a first-round bye with its No. 10 seed, and the Broncos will face the victor of Maryland and Albany Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex.
