  • Grading Crystal Palace's summer signings - Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Chelsea's academy graduate who moved to Crystal Palace this season on a season-long loan revealed he had the vision to leave Chelsea in summer.

Loftus-Cheek has burst onto the global scene this past week, starting for England against both Germany and Brazil as he attempts to force his way into World Cup reckoning.

"I felt like I needed to play a lot, so I came in and said I wanted to go away from Chelsea and play games".

Loftus-Cheek, who has started only six league games at Chelsea in the last three years, has starred at struggling Palace but can not be recalled as he is on a year-long loan.

Willian believes Ruben Loftus-Cheek has a bright future at Chelsea and has urged the England worldwide to consider an immediate return to Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham is probably the only team in the Premier League apart from Manchester United and Southampton to have youth players in their first team in current times. He's now playing for Crystal Palace where he's given a much better role than the one he would have got at Chelsea.

But England boss Gareth Southgate told reporters ahead of Palace's clash with Everton this weekend: "It's a problem with his back which he has had periodically so I think we're ok".

"You can't win really, but I personally feel that it would have helped Ruben to have been loaned out a year earlier".

Former Liverpool and Tottenham skipper Redknapp believes Loftus-Cheek should be motivated to prove to Chelsea that they made a big mistake selling the powerful midfielder.

"We are playing the best team in the world who've annihilated everybody in South American qualification which is the hardest way to the finals so we have to be spot on to have a chance of winning the game".

Discussing his relationship with the Italian manager, the 21-year-old continued: "I've had no contact (with Conte)". They are a massive club and I understand opportunities don't come to everyone or often.
