Conor McGregor stormed the cage following Charlie Ward's fight at Bellator 187 at the 3Arena in Dublin on Saturday night.

Once Ward defeated John Redmond, McGregor jumped into the ring.

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has sparked a huge controversy after being involved in an angry altercation with a referee at an MMA event here.

Later on after his incident with Goddard, McGregor was then seen appearing to slap Bellator staff member Mike Johnson, who tried to stop him re-entering the cage.

For the second time in less than a month, Conor McGregor and referee Marc Goddard had issues with each other during an worldwide fight card.

McGregor aggressively went after referee Marc Goddard who had been in charge of the contest between Ward and Redmond. "Act professional", Goddard could be heard telling McGregor.

At a recent UFC Fight Night event in Gdansk, Poland, McGregor caused a scene cageside while supporting close friend and training partner Artem Lobov.

McGregor could be in hot water for his behavior Friday.

"Mr. Conor McGregor who was a spectator at the time, disrupted the event by scaling the cage prior to the conclusion of the bout".

McGregor returned and was stopped at the top of the fence by another official.

It's likely that McGregor will face some sort of punishment from the athletic commission, but it is unclear what that will be.

It isn't immediately clear what regulatory sanctions, if any, he might be subject to, but he is contractually obligated to abide by the UFC's Athlete Code of Conduct, although UFC officials have yet to respond to requests for comment on the situation.
