  • Apple's Newest iPhone Update Finally Fixes That Annoying Autocorrect Bug

"After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again", Apple said in a statement.

But it's certainly nice to hear Apple is on top of things, even though technically we have no timeline for the "upcoming software update", which may or may not coincide with an iOS 11.1.2 maintenance effort. But other than the company warning about potential screen burn-in, Apple hasn't had the same experience with the iPhone X. However, it seems that, like a lot us, the flagship device can struggle when it gets really cold. Some also came up with a possible explanation saying that the effect that light had on infrared camera and light sensor for FaceID authentication on the front may be the reason behind it. In its support page, Apple notes, "Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0-degrees and 35-degees Celsius (32-degrees to 95-degrees Fahrenheit)".

While Apple recommends using its devices in temperatures above the freezing point, the issue so far appears to be occurring within the described range, causing problems with swiping and even FaceID.

Apple issued iOS 11.1.1 this week, promising issues including the freaky "i" autocorrect, which changed the letter to an A and a question mark symbol.

Many people in a Reddit thread said they noticed the problem was most pronounced when they used their phones immediately after moving outside from a warm interior.

Sadly, there's no exact timeframe for the cold weather fix but Apple's investigating the issue for an upcoming software release, it confirmed to The Loop.

Possibly, the unresponsive screen issue results due to a rapid change in temperature and once it is stabilized, the screen starts to respond again.

Just yesterday, the firm rolled out another update for iOS 11, following complaints of a freaky autocorrect issue that change the letter "i" to an A with a [?] symbol.
