  • Pokemon Go developers announce new mobile game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

Remember a year ago when the world lost its mind and spent several months solid playing Pokemon Go?!

"With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World", read a statement.

Claims that Niantic would make a Harry Potter-themed game were first reported in July 2016 but were dismissed as a hoax, not least because the San Francisco-based developer was still rolling out Pokemon Go at the time.

"Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will reveal that magic is all around us..."

As of right now, there are no specific details on what you will be able to do on the platform, but our best guess is that you will be fighting beasts from 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, ' as well as battling some of the baddies from the Harry Potter book and movie series. That's why it's such big news that the company has announced the hit game's successor.

"With this game, we are allowing the passionate, worldwide fan base to experience J.K. Rowling's deeply powerful and imaginative universe in a new, truly immersive way", said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros.

"At Niantic, our goal is to leverage technology to create real world experiences that help people to discover the wonderful, and often magical parts of the world around them", said John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic, Inc.

"If you look at the different major franchises out there, I don't think there are many that could do Pokemon Go justice as a follow-up".
