Disney Streaming Service to be Substantially Cheaper than Netflix

As most of you are aware, Netflix now costs anywhere between $7.99 and $13.99 a month to stream an array of studio content including the service's original series and films.
A wicked hurricane season, falling advertising sales and a cancelled movie sapped fourth-quarter profit at Disney, the company said, leading to the first drop in annual results since the financial crisis nearly a decade ago.
Iger said in the call that Disney's platform would be "substantially cheaper" than Netflix, which now charges $10.99 / £5.99 a month for its basic package. This seemingly means that the service will not feature the hard-edged Marvel shows that are now airing on Netflix or many Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures films. With an ambitious plan to bring loads of new content to the small screen - including a newly announced live-action Star Wars TV series - the Mouse House is pushing hard into the TV streaming space.
"We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on "The Last Jedi, ' " Johnson and Bergman said in a joint statement". The company held an investors meeting to detail its future projects, and Disney confirmed a series of new Star Wars projects were in the work.
Disney plans to price its streaming service below what Netflix charges based on the fact that it will have less content initially, Iger said. Iger said the company just closed a deal with Rian Johnson, who directed the installment that will be released in December, to develop an entirely new Star Wars trilogy. He said the new service will be separate from the ESPN service it is now developing and that ESPN content won't be accessible on it whatsoever.
Other new programs heading to the SVOD will include original TV series adaptations of Pixar's Monsters Inc. and Disney Channel's High School Musical franchise. All are set for the streaming service, which is due to debut online in 2019.
As soon as we know more, we'll let you know, sports fans.
Where will it be available?
Currently, Netflix plans start at $7.99 per month and jump to $10.99 for HD and $13.99 for Ultra HD plans.
