Penn State And Michigan State Got Stuck In A Never-Ending Weather Delay

Why not one more time?

Thanks to heavy rain and some sparse lightning strikes, the earliest the Nittany Lions will be back on the field is 5:30 p.m., according to officials at Michigan State.

It was Michigan State's second win against a No. 7 opponent after beating Michigan 14-10 in Ann Arbor on October 7.

More than that, the Buckeyes' victory over the Nittany Lions gave Ohio State the tiebreaker in the Big Ten East. Wisconsin is at No. 6 - the best in the Big Ten. After dominating MI to move to 7-0, the Nittany Lions jumped to No. 2 in the AP Poll. That pushed the Spartans into field goal range and they didn't waste the opportunity. Michigan State's Brian Lewerke set school records for completions (39) and yards passing (445) last weekend.

Khari Willis led Michigan State with 11 tackles, David Dowell had two interceptions and Joe Bachie one. Running back and Heisman Trophy contender Saquon Barkley finished with 14 carries for 63 yards and three receptions for 33 yards.

Unlike Ohio State, Penn State didn't let its opponent blow the game open before halftime.

Penn State will look to finish the season strong, with three of the final three games taking place in Beaver Stadium.

Michigan State, on the other hand, seemed to thrive in the poor conditions. Instead of entering the most important part of the season with a well-defined hierarchy of teams, the conference is a jumbled mess.

After the loss, Penn State players ran off the field. McSorley was intercepted three times. That loss also severely damaged the Nittany Lions' spot in the polls.

Penn State was driving for the potential go-ahead score but went for it on fourth-and-3 from the Michigan State 31-yard line and McSorley's pass was incomplete. If Wisconsin handles business against Iowa and MI at home and Minnesota on the road and then takes out the East victor in Indianapolis, it could turn into the conference's top playoff candidate.
