Penn study: Assaults increase after end of Daylight Saving Time

  • More sunlight improves sleep as Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, says neurologist

The end of Daylight Saving Time is on November 5 and, although we will be gaining an hour of sleep, the sun will also be setting at around 5:30 p.m., which seems wrong - seeing as that is the time that most of us leave work. Don't worry about your cell phones because they reset themselves. It's recommended to check over any devices that require manual adjustments before you go to bed on Sunday.

Keep in mind to turn back your clocks this weekend!

Montreal's bar patrons will also get an extra hour out due to the time change.

Daylight Saving is observed in 70 countries and most states in the USA, with clocks being set ahead one hour in the spring and back one hour in autumn. We enter the end of Daylight Saving Time during the fall and winter months, and having darkness fall earlier seems to go well with the time and climate.

Sunday, November 5, 2017 - Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 am.

Despite being practiced by many, lawmakers in several states are increasingly trying to avoid the time change, claiming it is unnecessary.

"We've got cognitive disorders, dementias, cancer, cardiovascular disease, obesity, early death, motor vehicle accidents". Apparently, New Zealander George Vernon Hudson proposed the idea of daylight saving in the year 1895.

After this weekend you won't need to adjust your clocks again until the second Sunday in March of 2018, which will be 2 a.m. on March 11. In New York City and along the East Coast of the United States the sun will rise at 6:31 a.m. EST. Set clocks ahead one hour.

Dr. Zhee said that for people sensitive to the time change, small changes made as late as Friday night can help prepare for a better Monday morning.
