Donald Trump has said he would consider sending the suspected assailant in a NY terrorist attack to Guantanamo Bay, saying the venue would be preferable to the "joke" of America's criminal justice system. "Transferring the suspect from NY would raise a host of constitutional and legal issues", the Times reports, "and it was not clear that Mr. Trump actually would follow through on the idea since his comment was in reaction to a question rather than part of his prepared remarks".

"I would certainly consider that".

"The terrorist came into our country through what is called the 'Diversity Visa Lottery Program, ' a Chuck Schumer beauty", Trump tweeted Wednesday.

"Sounds nice-it's not nice", the President said Wednesday.

He said he spoke to Trump before the interview and they shared the view that America is "fighting people that are compelled by their religious views to kill us all", including fellow Muslims who don't agree with their extreme views.

"We have to come up with punishment that's far quicker and far greater than the punishment these animals are getting right now", Trump said, adding that "what we have right now is a joke and a laughing stock".

"We need quick justice and we need strong justice", he said.

"We're so politically correct that we're afraid to do anything", he said.

Trump then attacked the idea of "chain migration", or family-based immigration, a central theme of the United States system that allows those in the country to sponsor relatives overseas to join them.

"The last thing that I want this guy to hear tonight is, 'You have the right to a lawyer.' The last thing he should hear is his Miranda rights".

Graham said suspect Sayfullo Saipov, who is accused of killing eight people by mowiing them down with a rented truck, was "motivated by radical Islamic thought, that he killed in the name of radical islam and that he is expressing his allegiance to ISIL". "No wonder" attacks take place, he said. Law-enforcement authorities said the suspect in NY followed an ISIS playbook to carry out the attack.

The Immigration Act of 1990 overwhelmingly passed both the House and Senate - controlled by Democrats at the time - and was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush, a Republican, not long after receiving it.
