United States space agency NASA has shared a playlist of spooky space sounds that will make your skin crawl in time for the traditional Halloween celebrations.

"Soaring to the depths of our universe, gallant spacecraft roam the cosmos, snapping images of celestial wonders", NASA wrote in the playlist's description. "When scientists convert these to sound waves, the results are eerie to hear".

A playlist of spooky space sounds has been released by NASA to coincide with Halloween.

Some of these radio signals were translated into sounds to understand the signal better, the process also known as "data sonification".

In classic NASA fashion, the playlist also includes an explanation of what listeners are actually hearing in the sound clips.

The things that go bump in the night in space are much creepier than those found on Earth, at least those recorded and released by NASA in honor of the spooky holiday.

When Juno entered Jupiter's orbit a year ago, the planet's magnetic field collided with the solar wind (charged particles released by the sun).

These waves can be generated by anything from entire planets to helium.

Plasma Waves: Plasma waves, like the roaring ocean surf, create a rhythmic cacophony that - with the EMFISIS instrument aboard NASA's Van Allen Probes - we can hear across space. These were captured by Cassini as it investigated the auroras on the Jupiter's poles. The compressed signals vary in frequency and time, and feature rising and falling tones similar to Earth's radio emissions. In fact, the sounds were produced as Stardust, a NASA spacecraft, was hit by multiple particles of dust as the comet passed by it.
