  • Change in Google's domain won't give results from another country

"Now the choice of country service will no longer be indicated by domain", said Evelyn Kao, product manager, Google. "In addition, at the bottom of the search results page, you can clearly see which country service you are now using".

If you wanted to search about the locale details of the country, just had to type Google with a different country code. This won't change if you try to make a Google search from google.co.uk or google.co.au.

Google's mobile app for iOS, its mobile web site, and the desktop version of Google and Maps are undergoing a small but important change. That's no longer the case, as the company says users will now get results based on their current location regardless of the domain they search from.

This will switch automatically depending on the country you are in, and will switch back once you go home. "Upon return to Australia, you will seamlessly revert back to the Australian country service".

Well, if you travel a lot and this news has you troubled, we have a solution for you. Now, Google will base worldwide search results on your location.

Google also says that the change will not impact some of the legal requirements countries have under national law.

"This update will help ensure that you get the most relevant results based on your location and is consistent with how Google already manages our services across a number of our other platforms, including YouTube, Blogger, Google Earth and Gmail, among others". Simply go to Settings and look for the drop-down menu marked "Regions for Search Results" to set the location you want. The reason is that every fifth request to the search engine associated with the actual location of the person.
