Fashion brands are now blacklisting Terry Richardson over sexual misconduct allegations

  • Fashion photographer Terry Richardson 'banned from working for Condé Nast magazines'

A letter, which was obtained by The Telegraph, was sent by Condé Nast COO James Woolhouse to the "country presidents", stating that all unpublished work by Richardson should be "killed or substituted with other material".

The decision comes after a Sunday Times article published last week associated Richardson with the ongoing sexual assault scandal facing disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, the allegations of which Weinstein has denied, saying through a rep, "Any allegations of nonconsensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein".

Model Christy Turlington previously told United States industry magazine WWD that harassment of photographic models is tolerated in fashion.

Now, Valentino has also announced that it has "no plans" to work with the photographer in the future.

Bulgari recently worked with Richardson for a campaign with model Bella Hadid, but told The Daily Beast, "The campaign that was done with Terry Richardson was a one off, and there are no plans of working with him again".

The photographer told the Huffington Post all incidents were with "consenting adult women" and dismissed all claims otherwise as "malicious and manipulative recounting" that were "based on lies".

The magazines being published where images of Terry Richardson appear to need to be altered to remove the photographer's work. "I have never used an offer of work or a threat of rebuke to coerce someone into something that they did not want to do", he said.

"I give everyone that I work with enough respect to view them as having ownership of their free will and making their decisions accordingly, and as such, it has been hard to see myself as a target of revisionist history", Richardson said in letter published on the Huffington Post at the time.

Richardson (52) has been working in the fashion and celebrity portrait industry for years and his pictures are famously explicit and often controversial - famously directing a naked Miley Cyrus in her Wrecking Ball video and and shot Kylie Jenner's suggestive 2017 calendar. She later said she regretted the shoot.

Conde Nast confirmed the content of the email on Tuesday but declined to comment further.
