A manhunt is underway for a suspect who shot and killed two men at Grambling State University in Louisiana.

The sheriff's also said, "Investigators are in the process of gathering evidence, interviewing persons and securing warrants".

CBS News reports that Lincoln Parish Sheriff's spokesman Stephen Williams told media outlets that detectives joined Grambling State campus police at the scene of the crime after receiving 911 calls starting at 12:04 AM, Wednesday morning.

Police say the shooting began as "an altercation that started inside one of the dorm rooms and spilled out into the courtyard". The victims of the incident were at least twenty people, more than a hundred were injured. Students were not put on lockdown, but were urged to stay inside and pay attention to surroundings. This is reported by Associated Press. "Nothing that anybody would've ever wanted to have happened", said Grambling State University Director of University Communications Will Sutton.

Sutton released this official statement: "Our prayers go out to the victims and their families".

In Louisiana, the U.S., unknown persons opened fire at the University of Grambling. We always encourage our students to be safe, to be aware, watch who they hang out with, and watch who's around at all times.

According to GSU's website, it "combines the academic strengths of a major university with the benefits of a small college, a combination that enables our students to grow and learn in a serene and positive environment".
