  • Ford is recalling 1.3 million vehicles to fix a problem with doors and waterproofing

Ford Motor Co. announced the recall of 1.3 million 2015-2017 F-150 and 2017 Super Duty trucks in North America due to correct an issue with the door latch.

The automaker said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the latch issue. The Limited trim has been available on the light-duty F-150 since 2015 and will now be offered on F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups.

The company in November 2016 sent a bulletin to dealers that warned some 2015-2017 Ford F-150 trucks could have inoperative latches during freezing temperatures.

The automaker will take a $267 million hit in order to recall and fix the affected trucks.

The Center for Auto Safety, a nonprofit group founded by Ralph Nader, on Monday called on Ford to recall more than 1 million Explorer SUVs for alleged risk of carbon-monoxide poisoning.

Despite the hit, Ford said that it still expected to earn between $1.65 and $1.85 per share for the full year.

As a result, doors may not open (not good in an emergency situation) or may not fully close, potentially swinging open while the truck is moving (also very bad).

More than one million Ford F-series pickup trucks are being recalled in the United States for a door latch problem.

Ford shares fell 0.7 percent to $12.19 in late trading Wednesday.
