The findings show that 84 percent of Forbes 400 members have a four-year bachelor's degree versus only 33 percent of Americans adults overall; 72 of these billionaires have done their MBAs, while another 45 are college dropouts.

Bloomberg was less generous in its estimation, putting the president's wealth at $2.86 billion this year.

The biggest contributing factor to Trump's declining fortune was his real estate holdings, much of which is in New York City.

Forbes' 2015 list, dropping to 156th place on the 2016 list. The magazine has listed Trump among the 400 richest Americans since it began publishing its ranking in 1982.

The publication releases an annual issue of the magazine that examines the richest people in the country based on their estimated net worth.

A record 169 billionaires, including Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg and Under Armour's Kevin Plank, fell short of the minimum net worth required to land them among the richest of the rich in the US.

Topping the list was Bill Gates ($89B), followed by Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Ellison.
