Almost 400,000 Rohingya refugees have fled into Bangladesh since late August during the outbreak of violence in the Rakhine state.

The government further stated that some Rohingya are linked to "terror groups", and hence cannot be allowed to stay. The duo also stated that they were registered as refugees under the United Nations High Commission of Refugees (UNHCR) and have challenged any possible move to deport them on the grounds that it violated worldwide human rights conventions and some other issues.

India's top court is hearing a challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government's decision to deport Rohingya Muslims, filed by two Rohingyas living in Delhi who fled their village in Myanmar's western Rakhine State about six years ago.

On September 11, the Home Ministry of India prepared a copy of an affidavit that termed Rohingya Muslims as a threat to the national security and asked the Supreme Court to not prohibit the government's move to deport illegal Rohingya immigrants.

Owaisi requested the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government to not see Rohingyas as Muslims, but to consider them are refugees.

Earlier it was reported that the filed affidavit on the expulsion of Rohingyas stated that the decision to deport the Rohingyas is taken in "larger public interest and in the interest of national security".

In their petition, Mohammad Shaqir and Mohammad Salimullah argued their deportation would violate India's Constitution as well as the principle of "non-refoulement", which prohibits the deportation of refugees.

Dhaka: India will send a consignment of humanitarian assistance to Bangladesh tomorrow for Rohingya Muslims, days after Dhaka briefed New Delhi about the problems faced by it due to the influx of refugees from Myanmar following the ethnic violence in the Buddhist-majority nation. Only about 40,000 Rohingyas are acknowledged as citizens in their country.

Giving the example of 65,000 Talims refugees staying in India, Owaisi said if we can accommodate them, why not the Rohingyas. It's wrong. Under which law can the Centre send back Rohingya refugees?

"In fact the affidavit was/is in the process of being finalised".

Bangladesh, which is facing a big influx of Rohingyas from Myanmar, has called on the worldwide community to intervene and put pressure on Myanmar to address the exodus. "Therefore, it is essential to identify them and keep a watch on their activities for preventing any untoward incident that can take place".
