Now is the time for Jurgen Klopp to make Liverpool relevant again in European football's greatest competition, insists Champions League victor Luis Garcia.

The game takes place at Anfield stadium and kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested playmaker Philippe Coutinho will play some part against Sevilla on Wednesday (13 September) and believes he was right to exclude the Brazilian from the side that lost 5-0 to Manchester City on Saturday.

Philippe Coutinho was linked to Barcelona over the summer transfer window and even handed in a transfer request to the club.

Liverpool boss Klopp is missing several key names going into Wednesday night's clash.

- Player was given extra rest and training time to recover and catch up from global duty.

Klopp's side were already 1-0 down to a Sergio Aguero goal when Sadio Mané saw red in the closing stages of the first half for a high and unsafe challenge on Ederson, which resulted in the City goalkeeper being stretchered off. The 23-year-old has under 10 months remaining on his contract with Liverpool. "He came back from a long flight, after two substitute appearances and three weeks without training". If people blame me for this, no problem, but it was a decision taken for the season.

On the specific absence of Coutinho's incisive passing, Klopp added: "We score a lot of goals and all the players on the pitch play these passes". I will have the situation all the time now over the next three or four weeks.

The Senegalese forward misses next Saturday's home Premier League clash against Burnley then back-to-back visits to Leicester in the Carabao Cup and league - but he will be available for the Sevilla game.

"Phil is a fantastic player, and hopefully we can use him as quickly as possible".
