  • NY driver crashes into laundromat

Six people were injured, three seriously, when a driver crashed his SUV into a laundromat Sunday on Staten Island.

He was reversing in the parking lot when he sped up and was launched into the Page Laundromat.

Police have not charged anyone in the incident, which appears to have been an accident. In surveillance video, viewers can see the white SUV back up slowly before accelerating through the front of the business.

Six people were hurt including one person with several broken bones.

Witnesses told NBC 4 that one of the victims was pregnant. She's like, "I can't feel my legs!" "So when she saw me, she was like, 'My legs!'" Josephine Torlone told NBC 4 NY.

The driver, who alone in his vehicle, gunned it in reverse - shattering the storefront and getting most of the way inside.

Police say the 74-year-old driver man accidentally went into reverse and drove into the building as he attempted to park his vehicle.

The driver was taken to Staten Island University Hospital. The other three had minor injuries.

"I didn't get hit by the vehicle, but all these folding tables just came crashing, flying", he said.

Witnesses said they heard the driver call it a awful mistake.
