La La Land director Damien Chazelle will team with Netflix for his new Paris-filmed musical series titled The Eddy. The project first blipped the trade radar, as reported by THR, back in April and Netflix confirms that Chazelle will serve as executive producer for the entire run and direct two episodes. Glen Ballard, the six-time Grammy Award-winning music composer and producer of Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" and Michael Jackson's "Bad", is writing the original score for the series.

Chazelle is partnering with Netflix to bring a musical drama series called The Eddy to the small screen, Variety reports. Characters will speak in English, French, and Arabic. The series is set in Paris and centers on a jazz club and the people who keep it going.

When Damien Chazelle went up to collect his Best Director trophy last February, his name was written in the history books because he became the youngest victor in the category ever. The La La Land director says he's "always dreamed of shooting in Paris", because he is that Film Studies major you dated in college who made you attend endless Truffaut retrospectives until you considered faking your own death. He has teamed up with IMG and the streaming giant for the musical drama "The Eddy".

"From the intense, complex relationship between a jazz drummer and his instructor in "Whiplash" to his dazzling duo of lovelorn Los Angelenos in 'La La Land, ' Damien's work is emotional and electrifying", said Barmack.

However, unlike Chazelle's previous projects, the Whiplash creator will not be taking the directing helm entirely.

Alongside The Eddy, the in-demand Chazelle is also gathering steam under his next feature, Neil Armstrong biopic First Man.
