  • Xiaomi teases global launch of a new Mi phone on Sept 5

The middle-class handset will be the company's first dual camera phone to launch in this country.

Xiaomi India's Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain, confirmed on Twitter that the brand is going to introduce its first dual camera smartphone to the Indian market, and it could be the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 5X. The official page for the Xiaomi Mi 5X is also live on Xiaomi's website and the official page shows that the company will host a press conference on September 5 in New Delhi. It comes with a storage option of 64GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. The Xiaomi Mi 5x is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor along with 4GB of RAM. For the front, it features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It features a 5.5-inch Full HD display and runs on MIUI 9, based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Xiaomi will globally launch the phone in India on the said date, which invariably means the device in question can't be the Mi 5X.

If you were waiting for the release of Xiaomi's new dual-camera smartphone, you are in luck. This announcement has set the rumour mills running that it will be the 'global launch of the Xiaomi Mi 5x smartphone. Only Mi India fans can register for this event and they have to register before 31st August, 10 PM. The phone has a dual front camera with a 13-megapixel sensor and another 12-megapixel camera. At the back there is a dual-camera setup a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The camera app has a portrait mode very similar to the one on the iPhone 7 Plus, which allows blurring out of the background.

Another possibility is that this relates to the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 2.
