  • Like 2016, Another Demonstration Planned On Night Of Annual Elvis Presley Candlelight Vigil

Thousands of fans attended a candlelit vigil at his Graceland home in Memphis to pay their respects to the rocker who broke the musical mould and sold a billion records. Lisa was joined by her mother, Priscilla, 72, and ten-year-old twins Harper and Finley and Elvis look-a-like grandson Benjamin Keough as they lit candles and walked with fans throughout Graceland visiting the graves of her father and family members who have been buried on the grounds.

A Scarborough publican is marking the 40th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley today at his pub dedicated to the King. Fans will mark the sad anniversary in many different ways. "God took him back home, but he's still here". "When he sang, it was like he was singing to you", she said.

"More than we've ever had", Priscilla said of the crowds, who come annually to honor the King in what is dubbed "Elvis Week".

"For some fans he also now fills a spiritual and religious vacuum in modern secular society".

During his stint in the military, Private Presley was stationed at Ray Barracks in Friedburg and lived off-based in nearby Bad Nauheim, a resort known for its spas and natural springs.

The suit contends during the 2016 candlelight vigil, MPD and Graceland allowed white people to pass through barricades into the public vigil area but blocked African-Americans in the same line to enter. "Came as close as you could to seeing him somewhere", she said.

He added: "If I had to pick a favourite song of his it would have to be If I Can Dream because it was written at the time Martin Luther King was assassinated - there was a lot of unrest in America". "His music talks to you ... it has a spiritual meaning in his words".

"I get goosebumps just being at this spot right now, I feel Elvis' presence right now", says Brent Kuschel from Minnesota.

Ecstatic fans jostle to stand on the exact spot where he stood, and cradle and croon into the microphone he used, manically snapping photographs and tingling with delight. The 72-year-old actress was married to the American icon from 1967 until 1973, but has admitted to being distinctly unimpressed by the late singer before she started chatting to him. "So I did all my singing in the shower or in my bedroom, that was about it", he said.

When asked how long Marissa had loved Elvis for she said since she was born and dad Gary explained this was because she had been played the soundtrack to Blue Hawaii since she was in her moses basket.
