  • Usain Bolt Fails To Finish 4X100 Relay After Injury Occurs

It was a day of massive disappointment for fans and Sprint superstar Usain Bolt when he ended his illustrious career in agony due to injury while running the last lap of the 4x100m relay race in the World Championships.

Hosts Great Britain took the gold medal with a time of 37.47 seconds, and Usain Bolt's Jamaica team ended up not placing after his injury. However for Bolt there was light at the end of a "rough week" as one of his favourite football teams, Manchester United, registered a comprehensive win in their opening match of the Premier League 2017-18 season.

New 100m world champion Justin Gatlin has opened up on the reaction he received from the local crowd in London at the IAAF World Championships last week.

Team GB's first ever Men's 4x100m World Championship success followed the silver medal won by Team GB Women.

Danny Talbot completed a tidy top bend and Mitchell-Blake did just enough on the anchor.

They held off the United States of America, who were favourites, to win in a British record time of 37.47 seconds.

Britain's only other men's global sprint relay golds came in the 1912 and 2004 Olympics.

'We were excited, we were ready, we had been doing some hand offs and everybody was feeling good, but they kept us hanging around for a long time you know.

It was Ujah who got off to the best start of anyone in the field, ahead of the likes of Rogers and McLeod, and a strong change over to Gemili saw the home nation comfortably in front. He had won 45 races in a row before this loss. "Usain Bolt's name will always live on".

Yet another upset in the championships was from British long distance runner Mo Farah who came second behind Ethiopia's Muktar Edris.

"It was 40 minutes and two medal presentations before our run", Jamaica's Yohann Blake said, per The BBC. Running 200 m in less than 19.19 seconds is a huge task to overcome for any athlete in future. "I nearly cried. It was close, but it didn't come", he concluded.
