Susan Calman is set to hit the Strictly dance floor in the upcoming series of the reality competitionWho is Susan Calman and why is she famous? Finally I can reveal all the moves I've been practising in my kitchen to the nation.

Calman was revealed as the ninth celebrity to be taking part in the BBC One dancing programme on Jeremy Vine's BBC Radio 2 show. Haven't danced with a man in over a decade.

"I haven't worn heels or a dress since I was 17".

'I'm terrified but excited to start my Strictly journey.'

Ms Davidson also wrote "this is all of the awesomes" in a reply to a tweet shared by Calman about her forthcoming turn on the dancefloor. "Strictly is about entertaining people on a Saturday night and I'm going to do my absolute best to do that for people at home".

Out comedian Susan Calman has signed up to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.

But the most important message of support came from her wife, Lee Comack, who wrote: "Well I am so excited as my handsome wife @SusanCalman has just been announced as celebrity number 9 on Strictly Come Dancing".

Confirmed so far are The Saturdays' Mollie King, EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami, Host of ITV's This Morning and regular Loose Women panellist Ruth Langsford, Reverend Richard Coles, and soap actress Gemma Atkinson. They said: 'Strictly is a family show and we have chosen the traditional format of mixed-sex couples.' Many took this to be homophobic and offensive.

The 56-year-old is highly regarded in the world of ballroom and although she's not a household name in the United Kingdom (yet), she's a well-known face on the other side of the pond, having regularly appeared on the U.S. version of "Strictly", "Dancing With The Stars". This year will also introduce new judge Shirley Ballas, who replaces Len Goodman as Head Judge, following his departure at the end of the 2016 series, which saw broadcaster Ore Oduba come out on top.
