Caribbean Sports - Usain Bolt To Run Final Race Of His Career Saturday

  • Gatlin spoils Bolt's farewell in 100m with remarkable gold

Usain Bolt will run in the 4x100m relay heats for Jamaica at the 2017 World Championships on Saturday (August 12), despite being a bit sore after winning bronze in the 100m final last weekend. Bolt has been running on the IAAF "circuit" since 2001 when he ran in the IAAF World Youth Championships, but it wasn't until the 2008 Summer Olympics that the entire world learned about him.

Spectators again jeered once it was clear that the 2004 Olympic champion had won gold and ruined Bolt's farewell.

After a short while, though, he rose gingerly to his feet and limped across the line to huge cheers from the 56,000 crowd. Usain Bolt OJ and Sir Mo Farah, living legends, and thank them for all the great memories they have provided on the track and the inspiration that they leave for all to cherish.

But first, Bolt and his Jamaican teammates must navigate the heat set for 10:55 a.m. (4:55 a.m. Jamaica time) and avoid another slip-up in a championship that has left questions swirling about Jamaica's spot as the world's ultimate sprinting conveyor belt.

This year, however, he only got bronze in the 100 behind Gatlin. He is an enigma who starts and ends a race in an unusual electrifying fashion.

Either way, the IAAF World Championships curtain closer, scheduled for 9:50 p.m. (3:50 p.m.) will, as is often the case, be about Bolt - and then everything else.

Bolt has spoken about how the World Championships would be his last races but speculation persists that he may reverse his decision, with this result doing nothing to dampen that. Putting on the now famous Jamaican yellow vest, Bolt has brought so much ecstasy to diverse peoples across the globe.

"Those boys are coming for me, they are hungry", Farah said.

The 35-year-old, who has twice been banned for doping offenses, was booed every time he was introduced to the crowd at the London Stadium before the 100m heats, semi-finals and final.

It's a disappointing ending expected to be the final race for the greatest sprinter ever, which - nooooooooooo don't leave us Usain.

Even better if we can in the future see that all Federations are in agreement and that athletes are seen to represent their countries as opposed to having to compete as a neutral or indeed having to listen to debates about hyperandrogenism in respect of female athletes. "They executed and ran well for a young team", Bolt said. It was Gatlin in 2004.

Incidentally, the look of anguish on Bolt's face - when it struck him that he did not win - rivals that look in Edvard Munch's most famous painting.

"So to put a narrative out that it's just Justin Gatlin and he's the bad guy, it's really not fair". Can the same be said of Bolt? I came out here and did my best.
