A few Congress workers were detained on Saturday afternoon for protesting outside BJP headquarter against the attack on Rahul Gandhi's convoy in Gujarat yesterday, reported ANI.

In a tweet on Saturday, the Congress leader said he respects the sentiments of his party workers.

All the four arrested have been taken into police custody following several protests by Congress workers across Gujarat and in the Capital. Earlier in the day, he visited flood-hit areas in Rajasthan's Jalore district.

"We are sending boxes of bangles, which we have collected from our homes, to Prime Minister Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and the persons who threw stones at our leader's auto", Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee president Pratima Coutinho told reporters here on Saturday. My PSO got hurt.

"The act of tyranny of Narendra Modi led Government has crossed all the limits, where a person like Rahul Gandhi has not been spared", APCC stated in a release.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, a leader of the Congress party, has claimed that this attack was carried out by the BJP to provoke an atmosphere of fear in Gujarat before the elections.

"Respect the sentiments of Congress workers in #Gujarat protesting against admin not filing an FIR against the stone pelting". Rahul was travelling with SPG commandos some of whom were reportedly injured in the attack as they were sitting in the back. "What can I say?" "Are we in a democracy or a fascist dictatorship state?", he said.

Indirectly referring to the prime minister, Rahul Gandhi said, "Why the one, who has done this, would condemn the incident?"

"It deserves the strongest condemnation, and exposes the intent, ideology, and character of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh which believe in violence, intimidation, and physical assaults on political opponents or leaders". The people who waved black flags at him also booed him out by chanting Modi-Modi slogans. "The BJP government must be held responsible for the attacks" he added.
