Cavs 'Would Love' To Acquire Devin Booker In Kyrie Irving Trade

Things get hairy in that trade scenario since both teams have very little cap flexibility, and if Kyrie did go to NY, the Knicks don't have a suitable replacement PG for Cleveland.

Irving was exhausted of being Robin to James' Batman. It's no secret that Irving has listed Minnesota as one of his four preferred destinations.

Just recently, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto reported that "Irving is not about to commit to any team at this point".

Irving is now unwilling to commit to any team at the moment, as he has two seasons left on his contract and would like to keep his options open. In exchange for a star player they got multiple useful players, and promptly won 57 games in the first full, non-lockout shortened season without Anthony.

Just last month, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that roughly 20 teams were interested in Irving, so this report just confirms Detroit is one of those. But of course, this is something that the front office could not simply take for granted. Denver's second and third best assets respectively are too much for even a talent like Irving. Chicago also gave up No. 16 pick Justin Patton in the deal. The two-year contract means that a team would be paying enough, and giving up enough, that they need the player to stay longer and extend his contract.

In return for Irving, Cleveland is reportedly looking for a trade that was similar to that of the 2011 Denver Nuggets-New York Knicks deal for Carmelo Anthony, meaning they want young players, win-now veterans and draft picks. Now, not only does it seem like Cleveland is in for a world of trouble in their locker room, but other teams may be avoiding what they think could be a bad locker room presence in Irving.
