Melbourne United will be playing the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have Kiwi Steven Adams and recently-drafted ex-36er Terrance Ferguson on their roster, while the Sydney Kings will be playing the Jazz.

Dates for those contests have not yet been announced.

The Sydney Kings, Melbourne United and Brisbane Bullets will play the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns respectively; a massive get for the NBL and great exposure for young Australians and New Zealanders looking to make the leap to the National Basketball Association. For our teams to be chosen to come and play in the NBA preseason is a great endorsement of the NBL and Australian basketball.

Ingles has signalled his intention to play the game. The NBL begins on October 5, which will require some quick turnarounds for the Australians clubs.

The NBL has been building a steadfast partnership with the National Basketball Association since Larry Kestelman's ascension to owner status.

The Wildcats have an unprecedented 31-year playoff streak going, and have played in six of the last eight grand finals.

"This is another big leap forward for the NBL and Australian basketball", said Kings coach Andrew Gaze, a former NBA player and five-time Olympian.

Phoenix will face the Brisbane Bullets on Oct. 13 at Talking Stick Resort Arena, after the Sydney Kings visit the Utah Jazz on Oct. 2 and the Melbourne United play the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 8.

They're doing it by cutting that week out of the preseason, which makes sense, because as much as these guys work out and play basketball during the summer these days, the preseason doesn't serve as much of a objective as it did, say, 20 years ago. "It's either us or a few of the Euro League teams and that's about it".

The clash between the Kings and the Jazz comes right on the eve of the new NBL season, with the Kings facing a tough turnaround to get back to Australia in time for their season-opening clash against Adelaide on October 7th. "We also had a number of NBL players played in the NBA Summer League this year".
